Our Story

Otherwise known as Steve! 

After retiring as an engineer in the aerospace industry, I tried several creative hobbies to keep my mind active but wanted to do something that would also use my engineering skills and so, The Lamplighter was born.  After producing what my family referred to as ‘the lamp army’, they suggested I should look at possibly selling my creations and here we are! 

With a 40 year background in quality, manufacture, test equipment design and pressure systems, I am proud of the lamps I’ve constructed and the quality of each item produced. My designs started with using old irons purchased from antique shops and has now migrated to using cast pipe fittings. Some lamps are one-off items but other pipe lamps can be made to order in various colours.

No one is the same, all are hand built and therefore unique!  

Of course, I don’t have all the skills required to set up and run a website and my forte is most definitely maths, not content writing so The Lamplighter is truly a family affair.
